Great first day at Seaham Hall Hotel on our two day wedding photography course. The wedding photography course has been fully booked for some time with Seaham Hall being the perfect venue especially considering it has rained for most of the day. Many thanks to Phil Nunez for his input and expertise into the course, Phil is an excellent professional wedding photographer and his input was invaluable. Also many thanks to Two Touch Promotions for the excellent models on the day , Steve and Sandy; big thank you to House of Mooshki for the loan of a gorgeous wedding dress the course could not have been run without the help of these two companies. Also thankyou to our make-up artist Amy Parker who did a wonderful job with both models.
On the first day we look at group shots, shots of the bride, shots of the bride and groom and finally shots of the bride and groom in low light. The weather conditions were pretty poor for the day but Seaham Hall just lends itself to a wedding shoot as if it was designed for that purpose. Exposure and composition were the main obstacles for our students today especially when moving from the bright light into low light and trying to keep the detail in the dress. But it's composition which seems to be the biggest hurdle taking shots of the bride and groom that look natural. Interaction with your subjects is key and making them feel as comfortable as possible. Look at every shot from different angles make use of the light be it natural or manufactured.
Our best shots of the day were taken in the low light area of Seaham Hall, there is an area which is round in shape and has small spot lights all the way round. Utilsiing those lights on the subjects face resulted in some stunning shots taken by all the students. Tomorrow is using flash and reflectors, the weather is supposed to be poor again but after today who needs a sunny day!
